Steeped: Gourmet Coffee Anytime, Anywhere
I had the pleasure of trying Steeped Coffee to experience how their process produces a better coffee. All opinions are my own. This post contains Amazon affiliate links. If you click on the links, we may earn a fee. There is no additional cost to you.
I don’t know about you, but I love coffee. There is nothing better than a warm cup of energy to awaken your soul and mind. Regardless of what meetings you have throughout the day or what obstacles you will face, the ability to take a minute and sip some morning goodness brings a brightness to the best and worst of days.
I have been a pour over coffee fan for about seven years. However, when traveling, I don’t carry my pour over supplies with me. There is usually coffee around, in hotels, coffee shops, or gas stations. Nevertheless, it is inconvenient when traveling to go out and find coffee first thing in the morning, and I am usually disappointed because the coffee isn’t as good as my daily cup of joe.
I would like to introduce Steeped Coffee from Santa Cruz, California. Steeped Coffee has revolutionized the cultivation and brewing processes of coffee, from farm to cup. Quality shines through Steeped Coffee’s research and the taste of their brew.
Sometimes the best isn’t the fanciest or the most advanced. Best can often refer to concentrating on the simple basics, even with coffee.

How it Works
In simple terms, just add water. Steeped Coffee is steeped like tea. Although the coffee has an abundance of science and research behind it, for consumers, just remember to add hot water. I use a stainless-steel electric kettle (check it out on Amazon) for all my coffees and teas, although a stove top kettle will work fine. If you use your Keurig for hot water, just continue without the pod.

One of the best aspects of drinking Steeped Coffee is when I open the package. The spectacular aroma of the fresh coffee travels as if I were in a coffee house, but without the crowded lines or exorbitant prices.
For those scientists among us, the coffee is “brewed” using a full immersion brew method. The non-GMO filters are designed to encapsulate the optimal amount of water needed to create the best-tasting coffee. The bag is steeped in hot water for five minutes. Just like tea, you can leave the bag in while drinking or remove it. The coffee’s proportion is pre-packed for the perfect coffee to water ratio.

Ok, so here is where it gets really scienc-y. The coffee bags are nitro sealed for freshness. Oxygen that causes staleness is removed so that the beans stay as fresh as the day they entered the bag. Also, the bag is sealed ultrasonically, meaning that it contains no contaminating glues, staples, or other harmful materials.
Many coffee enthusiasts believe that the most important aspect of the coffee brewing process is the grind. Steeped Coffee uses a precision process. With all coffee grinding, it is important that the perfect ratio of coffee bean solids are extracted for maximum flavor. Steeped Coffee’s precision is so microscopic, that the cell walls of the beans are measured in microns, a unit of measure that equals one-millionth of a meter. This translates into a precise measurement of beans for grinding to extract their greatest flavor potential.
Is your head spinning? Mine is… and all of this so that I can have a good cup of coffee in the morning!
Steeped Coffee roasts their beans in small batches…. or in coffee terms, micro batches. By roasting in small quantities, quality control reigns supreme.
As far as the simple life, Steeped Coffee is amazing because you can remove that coffee maker from your counter-top. No more expensive pods that pollute our landfills, no more loud grinding noises, and no more worrying about cleaning or buying filters. Isn’t it nice to get rid of “things” that interfere with simplicity?

Convenience
Steeped Coffee is packed with the perfect proportion of coffee ready for water. The bags are made for single use and they can fit inside your pocket or purse. Having the ability to bring your coffee with you anywhere, anytime means no more $6.00 trips to the coffee house. Save time and energy wherever you are and whenever you go. I love that I can boil water in my kettle, drop the coffee bag in my cup, and head to work while the coffee brews in my car. Not only can I make my coffee at home, but I can also have the same quality product at work, in my camper, aboard a cruise ship, or just about anywhere that hot water is available.

The Beans
Steeped Coffee’s beans are produced in microclimates (areas with distinct climates). These microclimates allow coffee beans to obtain unique flavor profiles. The company currently yields coffee from the Huila and Cauca regions of Colombia as well as the Sidamo region of Ethiopia.
The Roasts
Steeped offers five blends of coffee: Sunrise, California, Odyssey, Driftwood, and Eventide.

The Sunrise Blend is a light roast of coffee. This translates into a washed coffee with hints of both light and dark beans.

The California Blend is a medium roast of coffee that has hints of sweetness from the beans. The California Blend is water processed.

The Odyssey Blend is a dark roast of coffee. It has a smooth, yet mature taste. The Odyssey Blend is water processed.

The Driftwood Blend is an extra dark roast of coffee. It has an intense flavor profile that is exceptionally smooth. The Driftwood Blend is water processed.

The Eventide Blend is decaffeinated. Eventide is water processed.

Steeped Coffee’s Commitment
Steeped Coffee doesn’t just make a great cup of coffee; they’re also committed to fair trade, the environment, and their employees.
The company sources its beans directly from farmers in South America and Africa. By having honest and integrable direct trade relationships with the farmers, Steeped Coffee is confident that the farmers give their best eye for detail in growing each bean. Steeped Coffee far exceeds fair-trade minimums and treats the farmers as members of Steeped family.
Steeped Coffee’s bags and packaging are made with plant-based, renewable and compostable materials. The bags consist of non-GMO food-grade biodegradable materials. You can feel confident throwing the used bags into your garden or trashcan. The coffee boxes are made with recycled materials and even the inks used for printing are non-toxic and water-based.
All of Steeped Coffee’s manufacturing, operations, and roasting occurs in California. The roasting process through the coffee arriving at your door are American operations.
From farms in South America and Africa to your table in the United States, we hope you enjoy each sip.
