With cookout season upon us, it is time to bring a game changer to the party, Kumana Avocado Sauce. When first presented with the sauce, I gave some strange looks too. Avocado Sauce… is that bottled guacamole? Should the ketchup and mustard move over? As I began investigating the sauce, I realized its unique flavor profile. The sauce is a Venezuelan staple at the dinner table, and now its a staple at my dinner table.

What Is It?

Avocado sauce hails from Venezuela, where it is referred to as guasacaca (pronounced wasaˈkaka). The sauce served on all types of foods. In learning about guasacaca, I realized that this was the Venezuelans’ version of guacamole. However, some Venezuelans do not use avocados, but instead, a combination of peppers. If you find the sauce when dining out, ask the waitperson if it is made with avocados or a pepper combo.

Since avocados are a health superfood due to their antioxidants and high nutrient levels, this sauce is a great condiment to use. The avocado sauce is plant-based and gluten-free. It is non-GMO, and there is no sugar added.

The avocado sauce is made from real avocados. “Crafted from real, creamy avocados, fresh onion & bell pepper, cilantro, garlic, and just a splash of white vinegar – Kumana works on pretty much everything you love to eat,” state co-founders Francisco Pavan & Todd Vine.

How To Use Avocado Sauce

Kumana offers three blends of avocado sauce: original, sweet, and hot. The sweet blend adds mango and the hot blend adds both mango and habanero.

The sauce is a fantastic addition to hamburgers, hotdogs, barbeque, sausages, chicken, fish, shrimp, tacos,  sandwiches, salads, eggs, and more.

I recently took all three blends to a family cook-out. Sean made smash burgers (click here for the recipe), and we asked our family to try the new sauce. We first began using the sauce with chips, and everyone loved it. We then used the sauce as a condiment on our burgers, and it was a home run. My brother loved the sweetness of the mango, my parents loved the avocado punch of the original, and I loved the kick of the habanero in the hot blend. We could have eaten the avocado sauce by the spoonful!

I was talking with my mom about how Kumana is the only producer of avocado sauce in the industry to use pureed avocados. We were super impressed with the natural ingredients. The sauce is also vibrant and beautiful when it is sprinkled on foods.
